Ford Repair: egr valve, egr flow, expediton


Question
yes my engine light came on so i had it checked with a obdII reader it showed that my egr flow was encifecent so i replaced it with a new one well still the same thing iv checked all my vacume lines i even took the egr off and checked it and it is working properly is there something else that would cause it to pull the same code my suv is a 98 expediton with the 4.6 triton v8 do you know of something else it could be and how to check it to see if it could be bad so i dont have to spend lots of money during my process of elimination

  You probably just need to reset the computer.  This is easy enough to do on your own.  Just disconnect the battery (both terminals) then put the key in the ignition and turn it to the "accessory on" position (the very last one before the car actually turns over to start).  Leave it like that for about half an hour, pull the key out, and reconnect the battery.  Some code readers can clear codes, but usually on the more high end models.  A shop could do this also, but I don't know why you'd spend the $60-$80 unless you had to.  Hope this helps.
