Ford Repair: Rear brakes on 1998 Sable, bolt head, rear brakes

Question
I spent a good part of my evening yesterday trying to wrap up the rear brakes.  I've got the new pads in place and the new rotor.  The only problem that I cannot solve is bolting the caliper back on.  The top bolt is a piece of cake, but I can't get the bottom bolt back in place because the emergency brake cable (I believe its the emergency brake at least) enters the caliper right behind the bolt head.  There is a metal housing over the rubber and is right in the way.  I suppose that I have to remove the cable, but I'm not sure how to do this.  The cable has an end that is through a "u" connection and with enough pushing, I could probably lift this off.  Another alternative would be to take the bolt out of the spring, but I'm afraid that I would have a hard time putting this back together.  I'm not even sure if either alternative will get the metal housing to move out of the way or not.  There must be a trick I'm missing.  Please help!

I also started working on the other side last night and I got the piston to turn down as far as it could go, but the slide arm doesn't move.  Any tips to loosen this up?

Thank you in advance!

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
How did you remove it, with out being able to get to the bottom bolt? Try removing the cable from the caliper ......use a pair of needle nose vise-grips.
As for the pin on the other side. I've always used heat to loosen things. Be careful as to not burn the piston or damage the caliper.
