Ford Repair: 98 explorer flashing 4WD indicator lights, ford explorer sport, failure code

Question
-It is funny that you mention the engine function. When I took it to the garage, I did also have a check engine light on.  He told me that the code for it was a PO442 Evap Sys Leak.  When I picked the car up, The check engine light was off, however the 4WD lights were and still are blinking.  He told me he had to codes come up for that.  Are the two connected, if so how.  I checked on other web sites, they seemed to refer to a actuator motor??? What is that, how is that connected to my problem.  Is it expensive??? Sounds it to me!------------------------

1998 Ford Explorer Sport 4.0L SOHC, automatic.  My 4WD High and Low indicator lights began to blink on and off.  They blink six times, and then go off for 5 mins, and blink again six times, etc.  I took it to a small garage, the repair man hooked it up to the computer, which he said no codes came up for the problem.  The vehicle runs fine.  Can you help?

Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
If the mechanic checked the transmission systems--it wouldn't show a failure code. He needs to check the basic engine function system for a GEM failure code.

Don't jump the gun. They aren't related. The EVAP code is for the emissions system connected to the fuel tank.
As for the 4x4 light blinking.....you have to find out what it IS. Not just guess........on a side note the actuator motor is expensive.
