Ford Repair: Auto radio removal, radio face, retaining clips

Question
do I need to remove the dash or anything to remove the radio on my '95 ford explorer. I have the tools but it doesn't want to come out.

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
Disconnect battery ground cable, then, replace and remove instrument cluster trim cover.
Insert radio removal tool No. T87P-19061-A or equivalent into radio face plate, press in one inch to release retaining clips, then pull radio from instrument panel using tool as handles.
Disconnect electrical connectors and antenna lead.
If radio is being replaced, remove rear mounting bracket.
Reverse procedure to install, ensure rear mounting bracket engages track in instrument panel, then verify proper operation of radio.

Hope this helps,
Erik
