Ford Repair: 2002 Ford Mustang GT solenoid, ford mustang, exhaust setup

Question
I am in the process of installing a completely new exhaust setup on my Mustang (midlength headers, catted h-pipe, catback), and to do so I had to remove the starter and solenoid. I am wrapping up the installation of everything, but I cannot fit the solenoid back into the starter; there seems to be a fork-like assembly within the starter that I must fit the solenoid's "trigger" through, but it doesn't seem possible. Is there any easy way to do this or should I just continue to try to jam the thing in there until it clicks through the opening?

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
It's difficult at best...I know! What I would suggest is that you pull the lever in the starter back to the solenoid opening and place the solenoid in/on from that point. Use a pick or coat hanger.
