Ford Repair: 98 Mustang GT, obd ii systems, mustang gt

Question
I have a mustang with a fuel injected sohc 4.6 liter motor. Strange problem that just started. After start up and running for a few minutes, when I put it in reverse (5 speed) and back up the engine will either just die or sputter at very low rpms. It also happens when slowing to prepare to turn. It never happens at highway speeds and I've ran it thru the gears shifting at 5000 rpm +. As soon as the rpm slows it will either sputter slightly or die all at once. Then it becomes really difficult to start. Then I reset the the computer (Pull a battery lead) then it will start up only to have the same problem again. I've changed the gas filter, thinking it was slighter clogged. I'm still guessing a gas problem, sometimes when I try to start it too much, I will smell a little gas. thanks for your help

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
I would suggest you doing two things.....
When it dies..DO NOT reset the computer...(actually pulling the cable doesn't reset it...only a scan tool will on the OBD II systems) and have it checked for fault codes.
Also, have the fuel pressure checked when the problem occurs.
