Ford Repair: 1992 Ford Tempo upshift problem, throttle linkage, ford tempo

Question
I have a 1992 TempoGL (3.2 4-cyl auto xmission) that occasionally shudders when up shifting to 2nd gear.  This typically happens when lower acceleration is applied (from a stop light, etc) - if I apply more pressure to the acceleration pedal, the shuddering is much less pronounced or is absent altogether.  Could this mean that I need a throttle linkage adjustment.  If so, what is the procedure for doing that?  I must mention that the plastic insert has popped out of the throttle rod that attaches to the trans lever.  I currently have a c-clip in place which is holding just fine (the rod is no longer available from Ford).  Can you help?

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
I would first replace the throttle valve lever...try a junk yard. Then, if that doesn't resolve the shudder problem....I would suggest that you put a pressure gauge on it and get readings for the shift points.
