Ford Repair: 1992 Ford Explorer Rear Brakes, wheel cylinders, rear brakes

Question
Greetings,

RE: 1992 Ford Explorer with rear ABS.

I discovered that I am not getting any brake fluid pressure to either of the rear brakes.  I checked for pressure before the rear wheel cylinder and still nothing.  I tried using a vacuum pump and still got nothing.

Both front brakes will push fluid just fine as I ended up bleeding them to see if this would help (working from the premise that the master cylinder is diagonally 'split')

I remember reading years ago on an Explorer forum that there were issues with a control valve(?) for the rear abs.  When it failed, it would stick closed and keep fluid from the rear wheel cylinders.

Do you think this is the case?  If so, what is the name of the part and can I test it?  Where is it located?

THANK YOU!

Rob

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
What I would suggest is start at the wheel cylinders and work your way back towards the master cylinder....checking for brake fluid. I think you'll find fluid is on the inlet side of the modulator valve (located behind the transmission cross member, left side).
