Hello, thanks for your time. I have a 1989 Ford probe. Very basic, no thrills. It started getting hard to start earlier this week, then just quit starting altogether. The plugs and wires were just changed, the starter and battery are fine. I am thinking its the fuel pump. Am I in the right direction? Also how hard is it to change this? This car has 98xxx, and had been sitting idle for about two years. I just started driving it last year. Thanks again for your time. Lisa

Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
I think ou are heading in the right direction....check the fuel pressure first....just to be sure.
To replace the pump .....remove the back seat cushion and then the cover plate to gain access to the pump. Then you'll be able to remove the pump.

Hello again, Well we replaced the feul pump, and it still does not want to start. It does eventually but it sure is hard, also we replaced the battery. Any other ideas? It turns, it just doesn't want to start. The engine light came on this morning for about 60 seconds, then it turned off.
Thanks again for your time, Lisa

Before you replaced the fuel pump....did you check the pressure of it?
What you should do is have the computer system checked for fault codes and go from there.
Also, check the condition of the timing belt and over all tune up condition of the engine.
