Ford Repair: Front end clunking noise, mercury cougar xr7, mercury cougar

Question
I have a 1994 Mercury Cougar XR7 with auto transmission. Often times when I brake and almost always when I turn left, there is a clunk that comes from near the front driver-side near the wheel. I can always feel the clunk thru the floor when I am driving. The noise has started to become a little more frequent. I think the car may have been in an accident before I bought it because the driver side door is misaligned. I was just wondering how soon I need to get this fixed and if I need to worry about my tire falling of when I'm driving or something. Thank you for your time and advice.    -Adam

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
I would suggest that you have it looked at ASAP. Have the brakes and front end checked out as well as an alignment. The alignment will be able to tell you IF your car has been in an accident or not. As far as your door.......open it and grab the end and try to lift it up and down. This will check the hinge pins........they might be worn.......causing misalignment.
Hope this helps,
Erik
