I have a 98 windstar and my door locks stick.  Sometime they work and sometime they dont.

With that high mileage, I wouldn't be surprised IF there are wires that are broken in the driver's door harness. The one that leads from the door to the body of the vehicle. What you might want to try is grabbing the harness and try moving it around. The driver's door is the one that get used the most and opens and closes the most. This being the case........wires in that harness...... crack and break.
