Ford Repair: Starting problems, radio head, tarus

Question
Erik,
I have a 96 Tarus with 144,000, 3.0, 6 cyl., auto trans.  Starter is good, battery is good and I think the wiring is in fair shape.  The car starts and runs well but if I go 10-15 miles and it heats up and I turn it off it won't start.  No "clicking" noise just a dead ignition switch sensation.  The radio, head lights and dome lights work fine but no sart-up until I let it cool off and then she'll fire up.  The repair engine light has been on for about the last 10,000 miles but I've been told that's an e.p.a. sensor. Any ideas where to look?

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
Yes, go back to the person that told you "not to worry" about the warning indicator and smack him in the head... IT is there for a reason. It isn't just a pretty little light on your dashboard. Go to another place and have your system checked and go from there.
Hope this helps,
Erik
