Ford Repair: My 2001 Taurus SEL w/ 3.0L DOHC Duratec V6, castrol syntec, duratec engine

Hello ERIK ! Thank you for taking the time to answer my Repair Question...... My 01' Taurus SEL with the 3.0L DOHC V6 Duratec engine, has 48,ooo on it. Recently, I can hear a audible " Whine" from ( I guess) the Belt, whenever I accellerate...also when I turn L or R I can most often hear the Belt "moan" or "groan" during the turn...also the engine was very smooth and quiet until about 2 months ago...now , it's louder than before...other than that, it runs very good...mucho power! , the Tranny fluid is very,very clean for 48,000 and I keep the oil clean as well... I use Castrol Syntec 5-30. Your insight and advice would be very helpful...thank you very much.....Bill.

Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
I would suggest that you replace the drive belt. As far as the "moaning" goes.....it is most likely the power steering pump that you are hearing. If the engine is loud.....get the exhaust checked.
