Ford Repair: Transmission issue, ford mustang, pressure gauge

91 Ford Mustang, 5.0, AOD automatic transmission. Had a friend tow my car 600 miles but all he did was put it in neutral and pull it. Now the trans will not shift gears. Worked fine before this. I can drop it to D1 and notice it engages but in drive it will not shift into the next gears. Any idea what I need to do? Will it need a full rebuild or is it the torque converter and/or pump? Any help will be appreciated.

Have you checked the fluid level? And if so, is it correct? What I would suggest you do is put a transmission pressure gauge on it and take some readings before going for a rebuild. Let me know what you get fo pressures in park, reverse, neutral, drive, 2, and 1.
