I was having a problem with the drivers side caliper locking up on the front brakes of my 1998 Ford Windstar.  I had that repaired, and it did it again.  I then blamed the mechanic for not bleeding the lines & had a Ford dealership bleed the lines & had the original mechanic redo the job.  It worked for about a day & then the same thing happened to the passenger side.  I had that done & now they are both locking up & smoking. The wheels are getting so hot that the hubcaps have melted off.  I have now changed the rotors, pads, and calipers on both sides & the hose.  What should I do now?   Thank You!

Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
Does your Windstar have 4 WABS? And IF so, is the ABS light coming on? If it is, were the sensors for the front wheels checked/replaced at the brake job? It almost sounds like the front wheel sensors MIGHT have been melted also.

Okay, sorry about that.  I think it does have 4 WABS.  The ABS light is not coming on.  Only after having all of the above work done, the brake light came on (not the ABS light).  I don't think they checked the sensors.  If it were the sensors, would the ABS light be coming on?  Are the sensors hard to change & is the part readily available?  Is it a dealership only part?  Thank you.

Yes, most likely the ABS light would come on IF the sensors were bad................but not always.
Since it is your red brake light that is on, that is an indication of a low fluid level OR the emergency brake being applied. Also, since your brake system got THAT hot as to melt the hub caps, I would have a fluid change done. The fluid most likely boiled and may have caused internal damage to the system.
