Ford Repair: 1999 Ford Windstar SEL, ford windstar sel, 1999 ford windstar

Question
At times while driving, my traction and ABS light comes on the dash, usually after I hit a bump.  The local Ford dealership says the computer module should be replaced, without doing any inspection other than doing a computer analyis hook up.  They said that they got a large number of errors when they did their hookup, and because of the large number they concluded that the module needed to be replaced. ($800)  Could this be a loose connection since if appears that the lights and warnings only come on when there is some type of bump that I hit or run over?

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
It could be....but most likely isn't. When a dealership does a diagnostic routine, they check all of the connections and wires first...to rule out loose connections. The other thing is that the board MIGHT be cracked and be jarred by hitting a bump in the road. IF they are 100% positive of their results, I would hold them to it and IF it doesn't work........COMPLAIN!
Hope this helps,
Erik
