Ford Repair: 1993 Ford Mustang, rear shoes, ford mustang

Question
The rear driver side brake feels like it does not repond immediatly when a press the brake pedal but then jams during the braking.  It feels like the other three brakes are doing the work and then this brake has an all at once reponse and I can hear it slamming to the drum.  Any suggestions?

Thanks for your help.

Answer
Hi,
Rear brake shoes create a groove as they are used. Remove the rear shoes to check for the grooves in the backing plate, then use a grinder or file and remove the groove, lube the backing plate and reinstall the old shoes or put new ones on if worn. GOOD LUCK!
