Ford Repair: transmission slipping, pitched whine, lever moves

Question
About a week ago, I started getting a high-pitched whine when I accelerated in my 2003 Ford Escape.  Several days later, the transmission began slipping out of gear during normal driving.  One minute everything was fine, the next, the car would lose all ability to accelerate or maintain speed, and would slowly coast to a stop.  Eventually, after shifting into Park, I would be able to shift back into drive and continue driving.  This anomaly has increased in frequency, and now, I can no longer shift into any gear at all.  The selector lever moves into all the different positions, but car will not move in any of them.  The trouble code was pulled, but was an "unknown trouble code".  Also, the o/d light flashes sometimes.  I checked the tranny fluid level, and the dipstick actually reads overfull.  I have not noticed any leaks.  What do you suppose the problem is?  Thank you very much for any help you can give me.

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
I would suggest that you bring it to the dealership and have them look in to it. There isn't a "unknown trouble code" for factory scan tools, that I have run across. It could be a failure of the turbine sensor and the transmissoion MIGHT need a rebuild.
Hope this helps,
Erik
