Ford Repair: Ford TBird tranny overdrive light flashing, ford tbird, autozone

Question
"My 95 3.8L V6 Ford TBird's tranny seems to be acting up- the electronic overdrive button is on but started disengaging during travel last night. The overdrive indicator light was blinking on and off and I could feel the tranny shifting the overdrive off with each blink of the light, causing the rpm's to keep shooting up to about 40-4500 at about 30 mph. I parked it overnight and today I can feel the overdrive kicking on and off but the indicator light is no longer blinking. I tried to push the overdrive button to cancel the overdrive completely but the button won't engage by choice. Checked Chilton's and Haynes but no troubleshooting hints could be found. Did check to see if the engine threw any codes but nothing by my reader. Haven't had any other issues with the tranny and the fluid doesnt smell burnt when I check the dipstick.";

its probally the shifting module on the tranny. ford has had some problems with the butten going bad also.your best bet is get ahold of a scan tool as a code reader will not tell you a problem. you can go to advance auto or autozone and borrow a scan tool for free. a garage will charege about 100 bucks. to work on the tranny or related parts are very difficult to work on so make sure you go to a place who knows what they are doing.most mechanics have the training to work on them.hope this helps.
