Ford Repair: 95 escort A/C, clutch plate, auto parts store

i just replaced the compressor on my 95 ford escort 1.9 the problem is that the compressor squeals all the time with or with out the clutch engaged i thought it was a bad bearing so i got a different compressor from the auto parts store and it does the same thing i tried tighting the belt more but it did not make a difference

Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
Before you replaced the AC compressor, did you check ALL of the other pulleys and tensioners? Also, look down at the top of the compressor.....is there a gap there so that the clutch plate isn't comig in contact with the pulley when the car is running with the AC off?
