Ford Repair: 1991 probe thermostat, dual element, correct temp

Question
"Hi
can you please help with this
A 1991 ford probe 4 cyl 2.2L nonturbo auto trans with A/C
the original thermostat has 2 temp.elements one large one and one small one which is for the small bypass line on the drivers side of the thermostat housing.
All the replacement theromostats (auto stores and online) do not have the dual element

my questions are
did ford eliminate this dual element application
and if so do I need to do anything with the bypass line
and what is the correct temp. 180 or 195 degrees

let me thank you in advance for any help you may offer";

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
It has always been Fords idea to make things better while in production. It is a very good possibility that they did change it. I can't say, I'm a mechanic, not a parts person. As for the degree range, I would go with the 195* thermostat. The hotter you can run an engine and control it, the better.
Hope this helps,
Erik
