Ford Repair: Hard Starting Probe, air intake system, head gasket

Question
I have a 1991 Probe with the 2.2L turbo eng, and auto trans. It is extremely hard to start.  You have to crank and crank then it will eventually start. I just resurfaced the head and replaced the head gasket, so it's not low compression. I tried a new coil and ignition module with no luck. The only code is #16 (EGR positon sensor) witch I don't think is the cause as once you get it started it runs great and has very good power. So it's not fuel either. I don't think it's timing as it doesn't back fire or spart knock.

Anyhow, I am stumped on this one. Please advise what I should try next.

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
I would suggest that you place a fuel gauge on it and verify that the fuel is good. Also, check the air intake system for cracks in the rubber hose from the air box to throttle body. Also, tend to the EGR code.
Hoep this helps,
Erik
