Ford Repair: front end/suspension, spring isolators, caster camber plates

Question
I have an 84 Mustang GT 350 (aniversary addition) and I want to rebuild my front end and drop the front and back.  What I want to know is what parts do I need (full list: bushings, tie rods, etc.)? And with droping the car do I need caster camber plates or will my stock control arms be alright and is there any other concerns with droping the car?

Thank You very much.  This site is really cool!

Answer
Matt-

As luck would have it, I too own an '84 GT350 (hatchback #842...with T-tops) that's been dropped already.  You'll need springs (obviously), spring isolators, and that's really about it for what's absolutely necessary.  Chances are that with a 20 year old car it might also be a good time to replace the front end bushings, but the tie rods should be ok as long as they're in good shape.  Camber plates are a good idea, but again, not absolutely necessary.  Just make sure you watch how much you drop it.  Nothing more than 1 1/2".  Anything more will screw up your suspension geometry and could cause clearance problems.  If you have aftermarket wheels like I do you might also have to watch for clearance.  Then again...I have 17"x9" wheels and a Maximum Motorsports K-member which set the wheels forward a bit so you may not have to do the clearancing that I did.  Hope this helps.
