Ford Repair: 66 mustang trunk lock cylinder replacement, cylinder replacement, lock cylinder

Question
What is the secret of getting the old trunk lock cylinder out of the housing and the new cylinder into the chrome housing. There is a pin on the top end of the lock cylinder that must move but I can't figure out how.  Thanks,  Fred

Answer
Mr. Carr,

I will have to assume that you can open your trunk. If you look on the inside of the trunk cylinder, you will see a clip that needs to be pulled out. It is flush on the inside. Once you get that clip out the cylinder will pull right out. Just make sure you don't loose the lock rod. You can then replace the old cylinder with a new one, which you can obtain from Mustangs Unlimited (www.mustangsunlimited.com) Hope that this helps and if you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me. Good luck.
