Ford Repair: ford powersteering, pressure pipe, pyp

Question

Hi my pressure pipe from the ford 89 F150 351 V8 broke, I had to dairn
the fluid to get the pipe ordered.Had no time to replace till now( 5
months) Replaced pipe and fluid, turn streering wheel several times but
still have to turn steeringwheel very hard. Pump does not kick
in.Bubbles came out but still does not work.
Took pressure pipe off and started engine , some fuild come running out.
Should it just birst out of the end of the pressure pyp or do I have a air block in pump.It was running
good before the pipe went.
how can I get the pump to run again?
thanks for the help.

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
After running the vehicle with out fluid in the PS pump, you've killed the pump. You'll need to replace it and also keep in mind that you might have also damaged the steering box as well.
Hope this helps,
Erik
