Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
I would check the fuel pressure and go from there.

Erik
how would i go about checking fuel pressure, also in a 91 escort GT is the fuel pump in the gas tank and is it mechanical or electrical.
thanks,
Jeff

Hello and thanks for the reply...I'll try to help.
The fuel pump is an IN tank system. The pump is located in the fuel tank. As far as checking fuel pressure.......there should be a check valve on the fuel rail that has a black cap on it. You will need a high pressure fuel gage. The system runs on 41 psi at idle and with the regulator unplugged from the vac source it will run at 60psi. You should be able to rent one at a local auto parts store.
Hope this helps,
Erik
