Ford Repair: 1993 Ford Explorer 4x4 indicator lights, ford explorer 4x4, ford explorer eddie bauer

I recently purchased a 1993 Ford Explorer (Eddie Bauer Edition.  When trying to engage the 4x4 high, the idicator light next to the push button does not come on, nor does the indicator light on the display panel.  It seems to engage the four wheel drive, but the lights will not come on.  I didn't know if there was something wrong with the four wheel drive or if there is a light or fuse burnt out.  The lights for the 4x4 low range both work fine.  If you have any insight to the problem, I would like some advice.

Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
 I would check the connections INSIDE the shift motor. You'll have to remove the back side of the motor and use a pencil eraser to clean the contacts. Be sure to install the backing plate as it was.
