Ford Repair: Engine Replacement, ford f 150, 2000 ford f 150

Question
I have a 2000 Ford F-150 with 4.2 V6 and 5 speed standard transmission. Existing vehicle has 100K miles and the only noticeable issue seems to be  a bit of difficulty shifting from neutral into 1st. gear (maybe the clutch or syncro).

I want to replace the engine with a 4.6 V8.
1.  Can it be done?
2.  Can I use the existing transmission?
3.  Will any computer(s) need to be changed?
4.  Any estimate of the labor cost?
Thank you for this very great service.

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
I really don't know IF it can be done........BUT, if it can --it will be VERY costly. The harnesses, ECM, Transmission, and radiator will have to be changed.
Your best best is to stick with what's in the vehicle.
Hope this helps,
Erik
