Ford Repair: 89 ford festiva, no spark, 1989 ford festiva, ford festiva

Question
I have an old 1989 ford festiva, 1.3 liter engine, 2bbl carbuerator, straight drive. Awhile back it cut off on me like the carb had messed up. I let it sit for a day and tried to start it again. It started and acted like it ran the carb out of fuel and died. I replaced the carb with a salvage yard carb. seeing as how i couldn't afford 500 bux for a new one if the parts store could even get it. Fuel is reaching the carb, but i have no spak. This is an Asian carb. with a mini wiring harness attached to it. I connected all wires with the corresponding connectors. I have replace the rotor button, distributor cap, and the coil. Still i have no fire. I have done the simple plug wire off test to see if i had spark. I am at my wits end over this because it still gets 35 MPG.
Thank you.

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
What do the carb and ignition have to do with each other? NOTHING! If you have no spark, replacing the carb won't do a thing for you, except waste your money. Look in to the ignition problem a little further. Check the pickup coil and also the ignition coil.
