Ford Repair: 98 Expedition Electrical System, system voltage, charging system

Good Morning Erik. I hope you can help me. The other day my battery died. I was working in the garage and had the radio/CD playing all day. The Battery is new and I just replaced the alternator a month or so before as well. In any event, I jump started my expedition but now the battery light comes on and the charging gauge is pegged at the top. I took the battery out and placed it on a charger and last night when I re-installed the battery, the same thing happened. I am not sure what could be wrong. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
 If it is pegged at the TOP, you are telling me that it is over charging..........right? I would check the charging system voltage and you might have to replace the alternator to solve the problem.
