Ford Repair: Speedometer bounce, transmission shop, speed sensor

Question
It doesn't have a cable, just a sensor with wires.

1996 Ford Explorer.  4.0 Automatic.  The problem I'm having is the speedometer bouncing slightly and the transmission shifting back and forth sunddenly in the 2 highest gears.  I changed the speed sensor in the back of the tranny.  Nothing changed.  Any ideas?  It seems to be getting worse and sometimes it doesn't shift back to 1st gear when I come to a stop.  The transmission seems solid.  I'm thinking some kind of sensor or something electronic.

Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
Does this speed sensor have a cable? Or only wires?

Hello and thanks for the reply...I'll try to help.
What you need to do is bring it to a transmission shop and have them scan the computer for fault codes. Also, take a look at the transmission fluid color, condition and smell.
Hope this helps,
Erik
