Ford Repair: 92 mustang thermostat, radiator hoses, temp gauge

Question
"92 mustang 5.0" i think my thermostat is either going out or already has, yesterday i was sitting in bumper to bumper traffic and my temp gauge just kept getting hotter and hotter so much in fact i had to park my car to keep it from going any higher, it was really warm like 75 degrees, but but my has never gotten that hot before even in bumper to bumper traffic, even coming home on the interstate it was a little warmer than usual, and it still is a lot warmer than its ever gotten, i mean its still in the normal temp but i know my own car and it never ever has gotten that hot before. and i put a new thermostat and a 3 core heavy duty radiator and a new water pump on at least 2 years ago and i've put roughly 50,000 miles on it since then. today i did check the radiator for coolant and it was down a little bit but i filled it up and drove it and it was still a little warm, so any advice?

Answer
Nathan,

I would change the thermostat again and if you have never changed your upper and lower radiator hoses, change them as they will get soft and collapse as they age. I would almost be willing to bet that it is your thermostat. Also, check for leaks at the water pump. If your vehicle has an electric fan, check to make sure that it is working properly. Hope that this helps and if you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me. Good luck.
