Ford Repair: diagnostic code 542, inertia switch, diagnostic code

i have a 1995 ford explorer,a/t,4 L v-6,102000
on the od.i drove to the gas station to fill up
and the car was fine.after filling car would not
start.i then ran a code test which revealed a
code 542 (fuel pump circuit open;pcm to motor)
now i'm not sure where to check.is it fuel pump
motor or engine.i also tried inertia switch but
it wasnt popped.please help.no car for over 2 weeks. thank you for your time. bill

Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
 What I would start off checking first is the power supply going to the fuel pump. If there is power there.........replace the pump. If NO power is present, start to back track along the circuit and check for power as you go.
