Ford Repair: 1982 Ford Mustang Gt, flowmaster catback, throttle body injection

Question
Hi Steve,
Just a quick question. I was changing my exhaust to duals with a h-pipe from Summit and a Flowmaster catback American Thunder system. I wonder though. Why does my car not have any O2 sensors? I have to plug the bungs on the h-pipe I got (it was actually for an 86GT). But why doesn't my car have any O2 sensors anyway? Is it too old too?
Thanks.

Answer
Mike-

O2 sensors only appear on cars with fuel injection.  Since Ford didn't introduce any kind of fuel injection on Mustangs until 1984 (and even that was only a throttle body injection setup Ford called CFI), you're '82 wouldn't need them.  Just keep those bungs plugged and take good good care of that '82.  Those are easily my favorite Fox-bodied Mustangs and you don't see too many of them these days.  Hope this helps.

Steve
