Ford Repair: 2001 Ford Escape Cruise Control malfunction, accellerate, cruise control

Question
I have a 2001 Ford Escape in which the cruise control that stopped working a few weeks ago, Everything appears to be functioning with the exception that it does not engage/take control of the throttle.  Press On, set/accellerate to engage the cruise control and the lights come on to indicate that it has been engaged, but it never actually takes control of the throttle.  A week earlier we had it inspected at a Ford Dealer, but they swear they didn't do anything, since my wife drove it for a few days, I didn't find out about it until a week later.

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
I would go back to the dealership for a look over again. Also, bring your previous work order, and talk to the general manager and service manager. Something doesn't seem to jive here. If the light is telling you that the cruise control is ON, and the light is an indicator that it is on, but there is no throttle control........something isn't connected to the throttle to actuate it. I would quickly look at the throttle to see if a cable has either snapped or was just left off during the last service.
Hope this helps,
Erik
