Ford Repair: Ford Explorer Electrical Problems, ford garage, electrical functions

Question
My 1999 Ford Explorer has been experiencing what I think are electrical problems. The "Door Ajar" light and chime will go off periodically while driving -- and all the doors and latches are completely closed and secured. This has been occuring for over a week now. Then, today, the overhead dome lights began to stay on. All three (front, backseat and rear) lights stay on permanently. I had to pull the fuse so we don't run down the battery. Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks.

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
I would suggest that you bring it to a Ford garage and have them take a look at the GEM (Generic electronic module), for faults..The GEM is what controls most of the electrical functions in the newer vehicles.
Hope this helps,
Erik
