Ford Repair: Explorer Fuel filling, vent hoses, vent hose

Question
There are 3 different vent hoses.  One connects to the "chamber" between the fuel door and fuel cap.  That is disconnected.  The second vent hose had a small plastic check valve in it, and I removed that.  The third vent hose connects to a small line that branches off of the fuel filler neck.  Should I disconnect that one too?  If that fixes the problem, do I leave it disconnected?  I don't understand why this is even happening.

Thanks,
Brian

I can't get any fuel into my 2002 Ford Explorer.  I disconnected the fuel filler hose from the tank and poured water through it, and it went just fine.  It acts as though the tank is full or under pressure when I try to put gas in it.  Any recommendations?

Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
Did you check the vent hose? It should be either inside the filler ose or it will be a seperate hose connecting to the filler outlet.
Hope this helps,
Erik

Hello and thanks for the...I'll try to help.
What seems to be happening is that when the fuel is going in to the tank it is trying to displace the air in the tank. The air has to go some where, right? IF the vent hose that branches off is clogged or blocked.....there is no place for the air to vent out........therefore it shuts the fuel pump off at the pump. IF you do find the hose is blocked replace it!
Hope this helps,
Erik
