Ford Repair: 1989 Ford F150 Heater Core replacement, heater core replacement, ford f 150

Question
My husband will be replacing the heater core in his 1989 Ford F-150(4WD 5 speed 302 motor) this weekend and wondered if I could find any instructions on the internet.  I don't know if you can help, but if you can't would you know of a site that could help me?

Answer
Ms. Hodik,

To replace the heater core:

Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. With the engine cool, drain the coolant from the radiator into a suitable container. Disconnect the heater hoses from the heater core on the engine side of the firewall. Working in the passenger compartment, remove the glove box for better access. Working in the passenger compartment, remove the seven screws, which attach the heater core cover to the plenum assembly. Disconnect the vacuum source but leave the vacuum harness attached to the cover. remove the cover. Remove the heater core from the plenum chamber. Installation is the exact reverse of removeal except for the following: fill the radiator with the proper type and amount of coolant. Start the engine and check for leaks.

Hope that this helps and if you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me. Good luck.
