Ford Repair: Wipers wont shut off, intermittent wipers, electrical problem

Question
I have recently changed the alternator on my 97 Ford Explorer. The new alternator was over charging so I took it back and changed it for another. Ever since my wipers will not turn off. I can only switch from Low speed to high that's it. I was doing some research and I think it is the Governor. What I don't know is, where the Governor is or who voted him into office. Any way could you help me out?

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
It is possible that the governor is faulty It is used for your intermittent wipers setting. It's basically a timer for the wiper system..........on/off. BUT, Ford hasn't used a governor in the wiper system for a long time. I would say that is most likely the wiper motor that has the electrical problem.
Hope this helps,
