Ford Repair: transmission 1996 explorer, a4ld transmission, transmission shop

the od/off light on my 6cyl.4.0 1996 explorer flashes on my dash. the trans.is slow to upshift,slips while upshifting at times and downshifts hard.the fluid seems to get too hot while driving as there is an odor.i replaced the trans filter,fluid and speed sensor but the problem remains.the trans. is an automatic.while replacing the fluid the old fluid had an almost burnt smell.there was no metal found in the bottom of the pan.the tourque converter and flywheel have been replaced whithin the past 18 mos.can you help diagnose my problem?thanks in advance.

Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
 Since the fluid had a burnt smell and your OD light is flashing, I would suggest that you bring it in to a transmission shop. I believe that it's an A4LD transmission that's in the vehicle and they tend to need rebuilding, quite often.
