Ford Repair: 2003 Ford Mustang Idle Problems Contd, epidemic problem, air control valve

Question
Hiya Steve;
         Well sir, the saga continues.
Last week I un-plugged the battery and left the accessory postion on, on per your instructions.
I must say that the engine seems to run better, in that the RPM band seems a bit smoother and faster.
It would seem that it is "breathing" better.
But...... the idle problem is still there.
Same, if not worse.
Still holds at the last RPM used.
Shift at 2000 causes upward departure in the RPM to 2100/2200, then 1200 for ten to twelve seconds then 1000 RPM, then finally to 650/675.
The dealers in my area all agree this is not right; but since a telephone call to their Ford "tech" line says that this is a normal parameter and to keep the car from stalling, they then agree also.
Sort of the fabel of the Emporer's New Clothes.
The on the scene guy says it's not right, but since Ford says that it is, then they then agree with Ford.
The fact is the car idles so high, that I can "idle" down the road in gear.
This must be an epidemic problem, because I have read of an "Idle bypass Kit" from Ford, to cure problem idleing.
Do you know anything about this?
Once again, HELP! please.
Respectfully
John

Answer
John-

Don't even get me started on the Ford "tech" line (and believe me, I've never used to word "tech" more loosely).  They have cookie-cutter answers for everything.  If it's not the TPS and isn't fixed by resetting the computer, I'm at a bit of a loss.  I haven't heard of any idle bypass kits, but that may certainly be an option.  You might also have them check out the idle air control valve (or IAC).  This can cause idle problems as well, but I would certainly hope they've checked that out already.  Then again...knowing dealerships...I'm not so sure.  Hope this helps.
