QuestionI have a 1997 ford areostar.It will up shift o.k.
but when i enter a hill and need a little more power,the trans.will not down shift very well.It will vibrate and i have to ease off on the accelerator and then press it harder to down shift. my van is a 3.0L with elec. overdrive,2wheel drive.

What I would suggest that you do are a few things.
First, check the transmission fluid condition and level. Make sure it is Red, clear of debris, and clean, and there should be NO burnt odor to it.
If this is good, I would suggest that you get to a transmission shop or Ford dealer asap, before any "real" internal damage occurs.
