Ford Repair: Thermostatt / water pump, eb, wobbles

Question
2000 Ford explorer EB edition V8.  I had a hose bust on my explorer last night.  It is the small hose that runs from the water pump into the block and is about 4-6 inches long.  I removed the old hose, put on a new one, filled with antifreeze & water & thought it was ok.  This morning I hear a knocking sound?  I'm afraid it is the w pump but don't know if the Thermostat could be the problem?  I'd like to take care of it myself to save $.  What do u think the problem is?

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question....I'll try to help.
The hose that you replaced was the by-pass hose for the water pump to thermostat. I can't see how a thermostat could cause a noise........never seen that before. What I would suggest is that you remove the drive belt and inspect the water pump and ALL of the other pulleys.
If you find one that wobbles, or makes a noise when turning, let me know and I'll try to help you out.
