Ford Repair: I have a 2000 ford taurus..., spark plug wires, ford taurus

Question
I have a 2000 ford taurus and when it rains or is damp out the car is hard to start but when the engine warms up it runs fine. Cold weather does not bother it, it is just when it is wet. After a few starts it runs fine. The engine is the standard v6. Please give advice about water profing or someting else.

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question.....I'll try to help.
Has the vehicle been "tuned-up" recently?
It sounds like the spark plug wires are bad and are shorting out to ground, during high moisture (rain, early AM)........and then goes away, after warm up, which "burns off" the moisture..
Try this, start the car and get it up to operating temp. Then spray the ignition wires, with water. See if the engine stmbles or starts running "funny"
Hope this helps,
Erik
