Question
hello Dave, hope you can HELP I HAVE A 2000 FORD CROWN VIC. LX IT STARTED STALLING AND I Cant fix it i changed the fuel filter, also added fuel injector cleaner,it just keeps stalling when i come to a light or something, other than that, it runs great, is there some sort of sensor i can replace? its driving me nuts hope to hear from you, carmine

Answer
This is a common problem. The idle is controlled by the Powertrain Contol Module. It uses the Idle Air Control Valve (IAC) to control a small amount of air entering the engine to adjust idle speed. It is mounted to the upper intake manifold with two small bolts, and has a small electrical connector on it. It is about two inches by four inches. It may be sticking, you can remove it (be careful, it may have a paper gasket) and clean it out with an Air Intake Cleaner. If this doesn't help, it may have failed, and need replacing.  You may also want to clean the throttle body; the throttle plate may be sticking.

I hope this helps,
Dave
