Ford Repair: water in oil?, oil dipstick, kevin fox

Question
I have a '93 F-150 5.0 with auto trans. I have been finding a milky substance on the underside of my oil fill cap. my oil dipstick is starting to show some rust and I'm getting a milky-oily substance in my air cleaner box(small amount). When I changed the oil I didn't see any discoloration in the oil. Thanks Kevin Fox

Answer
Hi Kevin,
Thanks for the question.........I'll try to help.
There are only a few things to check for this problem.
First, is the antifreeze level up to the correct amount in the reserve tank and also in the radiator? If not, I would suspect a leaking intake gasket.
Next, do you make frequent short trips......meaning, not letting the engine get to operating temp.? This can cause condensation to form and will turn the oil a milky white/brown.
I hope this helps, if there is more I can do for you, let me know.
Thanks,
Erik
