Ford Repair: ABS light, rear brakes, ford mustang

Question
We have a 2000 Ford Mustang and the ABS light came on today.  My husband checked the voltage on the battery and it appears to be fine.  On a cold start it surged a little but started.  He let the car sit and then he started it again and the light went out.  Is this a battery issue, possible alternator issue, or is it truly an ABS issue?  Also, we had the rear brakes replaced about 5-6 months ago by Les Schwab.  The car has 108,000 miles and the original battery.

Answer
Hi Kriston,
You will need to take it to your mechanic and have him "pull the codes" from the ABS computer. This is the only way to know for sure. I have a 2000 also and just replaced my battery. You should too, to avoid other problems. The battery is probably NOT the problem with the ABS light.
