Ford Repair: 1976 Ford Wont Start, ford pinto, shaft seal

Question
I have a 1976 Ford Pinto, 2.3L, Automatic. I recently changed the crankshaft oil seal, cam oil seal and the auxilliary shaft seal. I put it the car back together and it won't start. I checked the timing and it is right, got spark and gas. Checked for compression, it is okay. The motor turns, but it will not run. Do you have any idea, and the air pump or also called the smog pump locked up, do i need that to run the car?

Answer
Charles,

No, you do not need the smog pump to run the vehicle. When you say that the motor turns, does it turn fast or is the motor turning slow? You should check your battery cables, the wires going to the altenator, check your rotor under the distributor cap as well as check all your spark plugs to see if they have been fouled, as that will also keep your vehicle from running. If these things do not help, please write back to me and I will try to assist you further. I apologize for the delay in responding but I had computer failure. Good luck.
