Ford Repair: ABS light, rear abs, abs sensor

Question
I would like to replace the speed sensor on the rear of my 98 F-150 4 wheel drive truck.  Do you have a diagram that will show me its location?  The light on my dash keeps going on and off at various times.  I have had the brakes replaced completely which includes rotors, shoes, and drums etc. Light still comes on but I also noticed the light will stay off after I go through a car wash but eventually comes on again.  This is driving me crazy.  Unless you have a better idea I figure the speed sensoir is defective and needs replacing.

Answer
Hi Ed,
The only way to tell for sure is to pull the codes from the ABS computer. Your mechanic has a scan tool to do it.
It usually is the rear ABS sensor that goes out. It is located in the rear axle. Just remove the 2 wire electrical connector and 1 bolt and remove sensor. It costs about $35.00. If that doesn't fix it, have the codes pulled.
GOOD LUCK!

Jeff
