Ford Repair: r4egarding check coolant light coming on., ford escort lx, e mail address

I just bought and paid cash for a used 1994 Ford Escort LX about 2 weeks ago, the cars "check coolant" light now comes on and stays on. I have checked the water in the radiator and it is full, the temperature gauge is within normal limits. The car has not overheated yet. What do you think might be causing this to happen. I do not have money to invest in taking it to a repair shop and am concerned because I do not want to burn the engine up. Do you have any suggestions on what might be causing this problem to occur? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  It sounds like you've just got a bad coolant sensor.  So long as everything looks ok and the car doesn't overheat I wouldn't worry too much about it.  Just keep a close eye on everything and get the sensor replaced when you can afford it.  Hope this helps.
